Trauma Processing Group
An in-person group therapy to explore safety and connection
Held in Oakville

What it is
A space for healing the impacts of trauma – in connection with others.
Trauma – developmental, relational, a result of ACEs, or a single incident – deeply impacts our sense of self and our ability and quality to connect with other. Trauma happens in the absence of relational support. Its lasting imprint is disconnection, isolation and loneliness. That’s why healing is possible in relationships only.
This group offers a safe, structured space to gently explore the impacts of trauma as they arise in real-time relationships. Together, we notice how trauma lives in our bodies, expectations, and our protective strategies – not as pathology, but as deeply human adaptations. In Gestalt therapy, we call these creative adjustments.
This isn’t a space for fixing or rushing. It’s an invitation to slow down, tune in, and begin a different kind of contact – with yourself, and with others.
Healing doesn’t come from insight alone. It comes through showing up, being witnessed, and discovering what safety, trust, and connection can feel like.
Who It’s For
This group is for people navigating the lasting impact of trauma – especially developmental, or complex trauma.
- You may find it hard to trust others or feel safe in relationships.
- You may be the one who holds it all together for others – appeasing, accommodating, telling yourself “I can go without”.
- You might carry persistent feelings of shame, guilt, or inadequacy.
- You might push yourself to do more, learn more, be more – hoping that one day you’ll finally feel ready and enough.
- You may long for closeness, but find yourself keeping people at a distance – trapped in a cycle of isolation, fear, and searing loneliness. And you just don’t know how to begin.
- You may simply feel scared all the time.
Maybe you’ve done individual therapy and are ready to explore what happens when you’re with others.
This group is for those who want to explore themselves with others – not just by talking about the past, but by noticing what comes up in real-time relationship.
What You Might Gain
- A felt sense that connection is possible – and that you don’t have to do it alone
- More clarity around what safety, trust, and support mean for you
- A space to be seen, heard, and accepted at your own pace
- A sense of belonging
- Greater awareness of your relational patterns and trauma responses
- Opportunities to try out new ways of being with others
This group won’t “fix” anything in 10 meetings – but it may help you discover what healing feels like in connection. It’s a beginning.
